A head-on F-35 silhouette, precision-cut from vinyl in Pamlico County, NC, just across the Neuse River from MCAS Cherry Point. Pick your design, color and size. Only combinations we actually make are offered.
Designs
- Plain Jet: the clean F-35 silhouette, no lettering
- Lettering Below Jet: VMFA-231, VMFA-251 or VMFA-542 cut as separate letters under the jet
- Cut Into Jet (silver only): VMFA-251 or VMFA-542 cut out of the fuselage, so your window or paint shows through
Sizes (approximate, width × height)
- Plain Jet: 4 × 1 in or 7 × 2 in
- Lettering Below Jet: 4 × 2 in or 7 × 3 in
- Cut Into Jet: 7 × 2 in
Colors
- Silver (metallic silver grey), Red, Blue (royal blue), White, Black (gloss) and Matte Black
- Color Changing (Purple to Pink), limited supply: purple at room temperature, pink as it warms up in the sun or a warm car, then back to purple. Best on windows; long periods of direct sun can fade the effect over time. $1 more.
White is made to order; the white photos are previews built from the same design cut in another color.
What you get
- 1 cut vinyl decal in the design, color and size you choose
- ORACAL 651 outdoor vinyl (matte black and color changing use comparable outdoor and heat-activated vinyls)
- Transfer tape already applied, ready to install
This is cut vinyl, not a printed sticker. There is no background or clear film. Once applied, only the jet and its lettering remain. On the lettering-below designs the letters are held in position by the transfer tape, so everything goes on in one step.
The squadrons
All three squadrons fly the F-35 from MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina. VMFA-231, the Ace of Spades, is the Marine Corps' oldest flying squadron (first commissioned in 1919) and now flies the F-35B. VMFA-542, the Tigers, were commissioned at Cherry Point in 1944 and in 2023 became the Marine Corps' first East Coast F-35B fleet squadron. VMFA-251, the Thunderbolts, trace their lineage to 1941 and received the first East Coast-based Marine Corps F-35C in 2024. These squadron editions are our hometown salute.
How to apply
- Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Apply above about 50°F, out of hot direct sun.
- Rub firmly over the transfer tape, then slowly peel the backing paper away at a sharp angle.
- Position the decal and press it down from the center outward with a card or squeegee.
- Slowly peel the transfer tape back, folded flat against itself. Wait 48 hours before washing.
